{slow cooker asian short ribs with rice}




daniel says this is one of the most fabulous dinners i have made.
we don't take those sort of compliments lightly around here.
& i also never liked ribs before this. ever.

it doesn't look super pretty, but guys…it is SO good!!!

you will need:
1/4 cup of braggs liquid aminos {LOVE this stuff. but you could also use soy sauce}
1/8 cup of honey or maple syrup
1/8 cup of rice vinegar
2 cloves of garlic. peeled & smashed.
1 teaspoon of fresh grated ginger
1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
2 beef short ribs {1.5 or so pounds}
4 carrots. sliced longways.
1 small red cabbage. cut in quarters.
1 tablespoon of arrowroot
2 scallions. thinly sliced.

this is all in a crockpot, which is AWESOME.

1. combine {in your crockpot} liquid aminos, honey, vinegar, garlic, ginger & red pepper. add short ribs, carrot & cabbage. in that order.

2. cook covered on high for 4-5 hours, or low for the day or until meat is tender & falls off the bone.

3. ladle cooking liquid into a bowl & wisk in arrowroot powder to thicken & serve over rice of choice {i forgot the thickening part when we made it, but i think it would be nice for a thicker sauce.}

  • {you could also substitute another cut of meat in place of the short ribs, for whatever its worth. & let me know how it goes!}

  2. While I was reading your post, my 21 month old son came over and I said, "Doesn't that look good?" and then he proceeded to reach out to the picture, pretend to grab some food and "ate" it. This dish MUST be a winner! Haha!
